Interview Hints and Tips

Fail to Prepare
Prepare to Fail

Well done on being invited to an interview – you have successfully completed the first part of the job-seeking process. It is now important that you have all the information about the company you are seeing. Ensure you have the directions, have looked at the company literature and website and that you understand the Job Description supplied to you. Make a note of any questions you would like to ask during your interview.

Check date, time and location

Arrive at the interview at least 10 minutes early.

Be Presentable

Wear business attire – unless specifically told otherwise.
Be smart and presentable – no facial jewellery.

Review your CV

Think of questions you may be asked about your CV.
Cover reasons for leaving and any unusual gaps. Cover all negative points positively.
You may be asked to give examples of certain situations e.g. can you give me an example of how you prioritise your work?

Be Positive

Sound positive and enthusiastic about the role. Remember this is the only time you will be able to sell yourself and your skills to the client, think about relevant skills you have for the job that you are on interview for and SELL THEM! Be aware of your body language – it can have both a positive and negative impact.

Don’t be Afraid

If in doubt ask for points to be clarified. The interview is a two way process. At the end of the interview, if you want the job – tell them! Remember to ask what happens next.

Good Luck!
